Learning Communities in
Balance

On October 26, 2006, the Southeast
Ohio Regional Center hosted a Kickoff Event at Shawnee
State University for all professional learning communities
funded through OLN Regional Center Mini-Grants.
The theme
for this meeting was achieving balance in learning
communities. |
Speakers addressed the need for balance between
scholarship and community building, between individual goals
and community goals, between student learning and faculty learning,
and between technology and pedagogy. The program included time for sharing, community
building, and working within each individual learning community
on planning, strategizing, and maximizing outcomes.

Participants
were invited to also attend the Shawnee
4.0 conference on October
27. The focus of this conference on interactive digital
technology was of interest to faculty wanting to use
technology to enhance teaching and learning in their classes.
