Fall Kickoff

Learning Communities in Balance

On October 26, 2006, the Southeast Ohio Regional Center hosted a Kickoff Event at Shawnee State University for all professional learning communities funded through OLN Regional Center Mini-Grants.

The theme for this meeting was achieving balance in learning communities.

Speakers addressed the need for balance between scholarship and community building, between individual goals and community goals, between student learning and faculty learning, and between technology and pedagogy. The program included time for sharing, community building, and working within each individual learning community on planning, strategizing, and maximizing outcomes.

PowerPoint presentaions covered each of the following areas:

Balance

PLC Objectives vs. Individual Objectives

Scholarship vs. Community Building

Technology vs. Pedagogy
