End of Year Grant Reporting
As we approach the end of the 2008-2009 grant year,
each Professional Learning Community funded through the OLN Southeast
Regional Center must submit a Portrait of Practice, a self-evaluation,
and a financial report. More information about reporting requirements
and forms can be found on the Grants page of this site.
2009
Learning Institutes
Learning institutes for the 2008-2009 Learning
Communities funded through the Innovations grant program last spring
are now being held. The events will take place as follows:
Northeast
Region: Jan. 15
Northwest
Region: Feb. 13
Central Region: Jan. 26
Southwest
Region: Feb. 27
Southeast Region: March 6

2008-2009 OLN Southeast Region PLCs
Congratulations to the new OLN Learning Communities
Initiative Innovations Grant recipients for the 2008-2009 academic
year. Three proposals were funded this year with each receiving
the full $5000 award.
The new learning communities created will
focus on developing methods of assessment for critical thinking
skills in a simulated hospital maternity unit, evaluating web-based
writing tools for use in teacher education and other classes, and
creating collaborative learning and laboratory experiences for
students in Behavioral Neuroscience and Anatomy and Physiology.
These learning communities will involve not only
educators and students from Ohio State University, Central Ohio
Technical College, Shawnee State University, and Ohio University,
Chillicothe, but also medical professionals from Southern Ohio
Medical Center and middle and high school teachers from throughout
Ross County.
The following learning communities were funded
for 2008-2009:

Univeristy Chillicothe Technology-Rich Creative Writing Learning
Community. Facilitator: Jan Schmittauer, Ohio

the Brain. Facilitator: Kim Goudy, Central
Ohio Technical College.
